What is Camtasia Studio?

Camtasia studio is a software program which used for creating video tutorial to make our lesson effective. Camtasia studio allows us to capture or record the computer screen. Camtasia studio also helps to capture live video screens and shots. It is easy to use program where it provide user to create or edit recording video as per their plans and ideas.

We can even record PowerPoint presentation using record the screen in camtasia studio. 

Camtasia consists of two major components:

·         Camtasia Recorder – is tool for capturing screen audio and video.

·         Camtasia editor- which is used editing video tutorial using show timeline or storyboard.

What we can do with Camtasia studio?

·         Add or insert images

·         Add sound or audio files

·         Add a text

·         Add or insert animation

·         Add video clip

·         Editing video clip

·         Add narration voice (record our own voice)

·         Record the screen

·         Capturing the live video tutorial

      As an assignment for this tool we were given assignment to produce a video lesson on particular topics provided. I did on Culture over Time that is social studies of class VI. I learned how to use Camtasia studio through videos that our tutor had uploaded for us along with the video samples for us which were helpful and also watched few YouTube videos to understand more. 

     

      The benefits of video tutorial are: 

•      Independent learning for students, where they can access from anywhere, anytime.
•      Can provide a face-to-face learning atmosphere
•      Ability to skip unnecessary parts and watch important portions multiple times
•      Can be paused and saved for later
•      Free or cheap alternative to courses and books
